Mitchell and I spent the weekend enjoying beautiful weather while high mountain fishing. This picture was taken at 12,391 ft. Mitchell is holding a 13.5" cutthroat trout. Check out my picture log from an earlier the Spruce Creek Trail by clicking here. Or, my full write up of that same earlier trip here. This write up includes a link to the Topo Zone map.
As we made our way to lower ground, we were scolded by this little guy. Ever present in the high country, Yellow Belly Marmots are territorial and will let you know when your on their turf.
Our view from camp two was spectacular!
And finally, Mitchell caught this 11" or 12" spectacularly colored cutbow at a very small lake at about 10,600 ft. elevation.
When it was all said and done, we caught close to 2 dozen fish. All but two were cutthroat. I can't think of a better way to spend a weekend with my youngest son.

Looks like you have had some excellent excursions already Will! Were did you and MM go?

Jeff,
We were on the Spruce Creek Trail above the Mohawk Lakes. Take a look at my past post on the location at http://longrunsolutions.typepad.com/long_run_solutions/2007/06/spruce_creek_tr.html , but generally it is just south of Breckenridge.

Catching a 13" fish is a rare feat, especially with the patience Mitchell mustered up. Fishing is such a fine activity to strengthen the father-son relationship, no?
