I've heard people say that there is no better way to wile away an hour or a day than fly fishing. I agree. And I have to add that given the chance, I could probably fly fish for three straight weeks without thinking twice.
Recently I had the chance to take two Wisconsin boys fishing on Clear Creak. Clear Creek is a much ignored, but very nice fishery. I would compare it to the Upper Blue. You are not likely to catch a big time wall hanger, but there are plenty of browns to catch up into the 14 to 16 inch class.
It was really pretty amazing how well these guys did. Here is Kurty "Dead Drift" about to hook into just one more of a half a dozen fish he landed.
And here is "Roll Cast" Reddeman in perfect position to execute a beautiful roll cast to a honey hole full of trout.
In the end, we landed a few and we missed a few. And, it was no doubt a nice fly fishing experience for the low landers.
This nice brown trout was right about 14". My net is 13 1/2" and it was longer than the net area. Most of the action was on an Adams or Parachute Adams size 14 or 16.
Almost, but not quite! Good thing the brown trout loved you, even though your net was not that big. That's true. Fishing during vacations and short breaks is still a cool thing to do. It's a great time to relax and commune with nature.
