AWKWARD AS THIS IS TO ADMIT, I'm no longer extremely young. True, I'm still fit, tough, competent, and probably one of the leading outdoorsmen in the world. But the former total youthfulness is gone, and I'd have to say, much as I regret the adjective, I'm starting to be more on the "old" side. The Obama administration, and most especially President Obama, have been busy courting two bit dictators and leaders of failed states. And, right on cue, the obedient dominant media has been fawning over their efforts.

First, it was Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran. Despite the administrations efforts, he just isn't knuckling under to the Mr. Nice treatment. Nobody could have guessed that would happen.

Next, it was Hugo Chávez of Venezuela. Here is a real winner. Somewhere around 70% of Venezuela's oil revenue just disappears. Hmmmmm, I wonder where that goes. President Obama makes his best move with a hardy hand shake and an advertisement of Hugo's book and what does he get? He must be hoping that Chavez will no long say President Obama smells like President Bush. Good luck with that.

Finally, and taking the cake, is President Obama's buddy and leader of Cuba Raúl Modesto Castro. Right when the administration was bragging about an upcoming "thawing of relations" with Cuba, they had to go and ask that Cuba show a sign of reconciliation. Oh, that was a bad move. It didn't take Raul's famous older brother Fidel long to throw cold water on that idea.

For that I can't help but saying, "President Obama, who's you daddy?"

Talk about being outed. Perez Hilton, your basic wanna be, nobody, gay activist type has been acting himself this week. Here is a guy who has parlayed outing people into a "career".... of sorts.

Bring on Carrie Prejean, the reigning Miss California. Perez asks what she thinks about gay marriage and Carrie tells him. Oops, why didn't he say he wasn't actually looking for a genuine answer.

Which prompted me to ask, "Perez, who's your daddy?"

We sure have been busy hyperventilating over AIG bonuses of $168 million or now I hear $218 million. It makes me wonder how much AIG has paid out in bonuses on average over the last 5 years. Is this bonus more or less? Was any of this bonus performance based or was it all retention based? Why isn't Chris Dodd being asked to resign over the legislationthat bailed out AIG and said OK to these bonuses?"

Today, President elect Barack Obama said the United States is likely to run TRILLION dollar budget deficits for years to come.

Does this scare you as much as it scares me?

Why isn't this statement leading off every TV news show?

I'm not saying that a republican wouldn't end up with the same deficits. In fact, George Bush has proved conclusively that he can spend money faster than any previous American president.

Does that make "TRILLION dollar deficits for years" OK?

I was wondering that before my daughter and I went to the range equipped with my 357 Mag and a 22 rifle. The answer, if not clear by the picture below is, this girl can shoot!

I have had some of the best emails and comments lately. But this one was way below the belt....just kidding.

In fact, this one deserves a multiple choice question. Is it:

A. It just plain looks cool

B. The color "Bald" does not go with my wetsuit

C. It keeps the head warm

D. All of the above

I think you know the answer is "D", all of the above. But, here is how I came to own a swimming cap. I went to one of the Dip & Dash events two weeks ago and out of maybe 125 participants, only one did not have a swimming cap. I have to admit two things about this guy; he was bald and he won the 750M / 5k event. He was also one of only two people who did not wear a wetsuit.

That night, my wife and I drove over to the damn at the far end of the lake. While we were there, we noticed the white board that has a fishing report. It showed the temperature of the water at 60 degrees. So, even though the answer is "D", the reason was "C". I'm a wimp for cold water, but 60 degrees!?!

And oh, by the way, my wife picked out my swimming cap.
