Just getting started & a lot of uphill to go!

Lower Mohawk Lake

Lower Mohawk Lake

If you look really close over the rocks in the middle, there is a verticle profile against the snow. ...that is a fly fisherman.

Upper Mohawk Lake

Upper Mohawk Lake

Five miles from the truck and an iced up lake. Discouraging, but not the end of my day.

Un-named Lake between Upper Mohawk & Elevation Lake

Un-named Lake between Upper Mohawk & Elevation Lake

No Name Lake. Some open water hear, but no fish to be found.

Hello Mr. Cutthroat

Hello Mr. Cutthroat

This fish looks like it is bleeding, but it is not. It is just that incredibly colorful!

Elevation Lake Cutthroat

Elevation Lake Cutthroat

The sheer cliff in the background is the remarkable feature of Elevation Lake. In my grateful hand is a 13 inch cut.

I did not check out Mayflower Lake, but was told by a hiker and his son that they saw fish in it.

From the 4WD Parking Area

From the 4WD Parking Area

Mayflower Lake - easy hike
Lower Mohawk - 800 ft up in 1 mile
Upper Mohawk - further than most venture.

It is a nice easy 2.2 mile hike to the 4WD parking area from here. Up hill, but very do-able.
