On the way up the trail looking back at Copper Mountain. We parked just to the left of this picture. Exit at exit 195 and park on the south side of the highway. Walk across the bridge over I70 and catch the trail just across the bridge
The Wheeler Lake trail spur is well marked and would be very difficult to miss. At least that was the case on July 11, 2008
One of many scenic views on this trip. This was on the way to the Wheeler Lake Spur.
This is a beautiful view of the drainage behind our camp. It is the top of a drainage named Officer's Gulch (one of several Officer's Gulches in Colorado). Just to the right of the tallest tree in this picture is Uneve pass. It is maybe 2 1/2 miles as the crow flies from this sight. If you take the Wheeler Lakes Spur to its end there is a nice overlook just past the trees in this picture
This photo is the same drainage behind our camp, but taken on the way to Lost Lake.
This friendly little guy is a Yellow Belly Marmot. Normally, these guys are pretty shy, but this guy was as interested in us as we were in him.
I think this is just above Lost Lake and looking at Uneva Pass, but when I look at this picture it may be the top of the drainage just a bit below the lake. One thing this picture shows clearly is that my friend Marshall's arm is just about the same size as one of my thighs.
Beautiful Lost Lake looking up at the snow covered divide. This picture looks just to the west of Uneva Pass.
This is probably my favorite picture of the trip. You are looking down at Lost Lake and Copper Mountain is top center. Back country beauty and Colorado's ski country playground.
